I went to see Dr Alex
Bartle speak about infant sleep the other week. I have heard him speak on the
topic before about the many ways to help infants, and ultimately, maternal
sleep. I did learn something new - it is a great idea to take your baby and toddler
out in the morning for a walk to a park. Apparently, blue and green natural
light helps the circadian rhythm kick in as it increases the melanin levels in
the body. This means that the child’s brain registers very clearly that this is
the morning and by the time the sun goes down in the evening they will be
naturally tired and sleepy. Bright indoor lights just don’t give the same
result
